The first CAIMed Retreat took place in Bad Lauterberg on July 2 and 3, 2025. The aim of the event was to bring all members together in person, promote interdisciplinary exchange, initiate new joint research projects and support the translation of advanced AI methods into healthcare. The aim is to enable better, personalized and human-centric medical care.
On 25 June 2025, the CAIMed Meet-Up entitled “AI in Personalized Medicine: Multi-Omics, Imaging & Causal Inference with Small Data” took place at the University Medical Center Göttingen. The event brought together experts to discuss current developments and challenges.
CAIMed is pleased to announce that Prof. Dr. Maria-Esther Vidal and Dr. Matthias Müller have been accepted as members of the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS).

On May 15, 2025, the latest CAIMed Meet-up took place on the Science Campus of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Braunschweig under the title “AI, Modeling and Simulation in Biomedical and Clinical Research”.

Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Nejdl, member of CAIMed, has been accepted as Principal Investigator (PI) at the German Center for Lung Research (DZL). The decision was confirmed by the DZL Board of Directors.
At the latest CAIMed Quarterly Meeting, leading scientists in AI research and medicine discussed current research projects on personalized medicine and AI-based decision support.
On February 18, 2025, the CAIMed Scientific Advisory Board was constituted in Hanover. The international advisory board, consisting of renowned experts from AI research, medicine and the biopharmaceutical industry, will provide strategic support to the CAIMed consortium over the coming years.
On January 30, 2025, the second CAIMed meet-up titled "AI Powered Approaches in Infection Research" took place at TWINCORE – Center for Experimental and Clinical Infection Research. The high number of registrations, far exceeding the available 65 seats, underscores the growing interest in CAIMed research and the increasing importance of artificial intelligence in medical research.

The Ministry of Science and Culture (MWK) and the Volkswagen Foundation are providing 15 million euros over the next five years from the joint "zukunft.niedersachsen" program.
