On July 3, the Leaders Dialog Digital Transformation took place in Kassel, where everything revolved around the potential and challenges of the digital transformation of the economy and society. Around 30 managers from applied research, the IT industry and user industries discussed the maturity of new technologies, data- and knowledge-driven application methods, practical examples and necessary measures in politics, business and research.
Dr. Johannes Winter, Managing Director of CAIMed - the Lower Saxony Centre for AI and Causal Methods in Medicine and Chief Scientific Officer at the L3S research center, was one of the speakers. In his presentation "Leveraging AI and Causal Methods to Enable Personalized Medicine for Optimal Patient Outcomes", he presented the mission and roadmap of the CAIMed initiative. Through collaboration between AI researchers and medical professionals, this initiative aims to advance research into AI methods in medicine and thus make an important contribution to improving healthcare.
Dr. Winter highlighted the immense potential offered by the use of artificial intelligence and causal methods: from state-of-the-art clinical decision support to personalized therapeutic approaches and improved monitoring of therapeutic success. These technologies can make a significant contribution to combating widespread diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases and infections more effectively.
In order to achieve these goals, Dr. Winter emphasized the need for excellent AI research with a clear application focus on medicine. CAIMed will work intensively in the coming years to advance this research and thus make a significant contribution to improving healthcare.
