University Medical Center Göttingen
Since 2010, Prof. Dr. Tim Friede has been the director of the Department for Medical Statistics at the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG). His research focus is on clinical biostatistics, including clinical trial designs, in particular flexible adaptive designs. Further methodological research interests are in generalized evidence synthesis including systematic reviews and meta-analyses as well as applications of machine learning and causal inference in clinical research.
“Randomised controlled trials are the gold standard in clinical research. In situations where randomised controlled trials are not feasible ethically or due to limited resources, the CAIMed consortium is paving the way for AI systems and causal methods to use the increasing availability of data to provide the best possible evidence. The validation is of central importance in order to provide meaningful and trustworthy fit for purpose AI models.”
