Frank Wacker is professor and chairman of the Radiology Department at Hannover Medical School and Head of the Clinical Research Center Hannover Imaging Unit. His diagnostic imaging research provides new imaging-biomarkers for early detection and reliable follow-up in infection, transplants and oncology. He is on the Board of Directors of the Research Campus STIMULATE - Solution Centre for Image-guided Local Therapies in Magdeburg where his research focuses on minimally invasive image guided therapies. In 2016 he established a Machine Learning Workgroup in Radiology @MHH with a focus on image segmentation, classification of radiological data and structured AI-supported therapy planning.

"CAImed will shape the future of digital healthcare through interdisciplinary research, collaboration and training the next generations of medical doctors and data scientists. Interdisciplinary collaboration in AI applications for radiology fosters innovation by synergizing diverse perspectives, expertise, and methodologies. This convergence of knowledge in CAIMed from fields such as radiology, computer science, engineering, and data analytics creates a fertile ground for breakthrough ideas and novel solutions. Obvious improvements include optimization of workflows and diagnostic accuracy. The sheer number of images that are created with each cross sectional examination makes it inevitable to support radiologists with their analysis."
