Prof. Dr. Wolfram Zimmermann is Professor and Director of the Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University Medical Center Göttingen. His research focuses on stem cell-based, tissue-engineered therapeutics for organ repair, therapeutic genome editing (focus on myopathies) and human organoids as well as disease modeling for preclinical investigations and evaluations of innovative drugs (patient-in-the-dish studies). To facilitate this research and its translational impact, his group develops platform technologies for the proliferation, differentiation and maturation of stem cells under biomimetic conditions and uses cell painting and optogenetic tools to monitor and control cellular processes in tissues.

"We explore the use of AI in various aspects of our studies, primarily in high-content image analysis of cell and tissue models, but also increasingly in preclinical and clinical data analyses. AI technologies developed within CAIMed are tailored to support mechanistic studies and enable precise diagnosis as well as therapies".
