Prof. Dr. techn. Wolfgang Nejdl has held a C4 professorship for computer science at Leibniz Universität Hannover since 1995 and is head of the Institute for Distributed Systems / Knowledge-Based Systems. He is also Managing Director of the L3S Research Center. His research areas are Search and Information Retrieval, Social Web and Social Media, Data Mining and Artificial Intelligence as well as Technology Enhanced Learning. At CAIMed, Wolfgang Nejdl contributes his expertise in the use of models that are based on both data and cause-and-effect relationships and can therefore identify and learn not only statistical but also causal relationships between different factors and use them in clinical decision-making.
