Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Constantin Pape has been a Juniorprofessor for

Computational Cell Analytics at the Institute of Computer Science since 2022. He has been researching and teaching on applications of deep learning in biomedical imaging.

He develops robust computer vision methods to automate image analysis

tasks in biological research and in clinical applications. In order to make these methods broadly available, he also implements user-friendly tools that offer state-of-the-art analysis functionality to the microscopy research community. In CAIMed, he is interested in further improving AI for image analysis in clinical applications and in evaluating these applications under holistic criteria. He also wants to develop methods that integrate imaging data with other data types, for example genetics, building on the broad expertise of the consortium to drive these developments.

„Images are one of the most important source of information for clinical research and diagnosis. However, to fully understand a physiological process or a disease, this information must be combined with other sources, such as genetics or clinical data. My goal in CAIMed is to develop AI-based methods to better integrate the information derived from these different sources.“
