Two recent publications involving <strong>CAIMed-Mentor and Director <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/caimed.de\/en\/das-zentrum\/personen\/michael-meyer-hermann\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/caimed.de\/das-zentrum\/personen\/michael-meyer-hermann\/\" target=\"_self\"><strong>Prof. Dr. Michael Meyer-Hermann<\/strong><\/a>demonstrate the breadth of mathematical modeling: from fundamental processes of the immune system to preparing for future outbreaks of infectious diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">In the journal <strong>\u201cImmunity\u201d<\/strong>, <strong>Meyer-Hermann and his team <\/strong>used <strong>mathematical models<\/strong> to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cell.com\/immunity\/fulltext\/S1074-7613(26)00388-2?_returnURL=httpslinkinghub.elsevier.comretrievepiiS1074761326003882showalltrue\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.cell.com\/immunity\/fulltext\/S1074-7613(26)00388-2?_returnURL=httpslinkinghub.elsevier.comretrievepiiS1074761326003882showalltrue\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a study<\/a><\/strong> that shows that the <strong>remodeling <\/strong>of the <strong>lymphatic system <\/strong>regulates the <strong>size of germinal centers<\/strong> and the <strong>quality of antibodies. <\/strong>The study illustrates how enlarged germinal centers can impair clonal selection and how viruses may exploit this mechanism to evade immune responses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">In <strong>\u201eScientific Reports\u201c (Nature Portfolio) <\/strong>, the team introduces<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41598-026-66481-6\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41598-026-66481-6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\"MEmilio\u201c<\/a><\/strong> a modular, high-performance framework for epidemiological simulations.
